Recipe: Magnolia Table Becki’s Mac n’ Cheese
About
The Magnolia Table is a recipe book written by Joanna Gaines from the HGTV show Fixer Upper. This recipe book is full of many recipes of all kinds, from breakfast to appetizers to desserts.
The Mac n’ Cheese
The Mac n’ Cheese was good, although, I did not enjoy it that much because there was too much black pepper and nutmeg for my taste. Cheese-wise, it was super cheesy and gooey. The cheese was also very stringy in a perfect way. It is chewy at first, then it melts in your mouth. The cheese also had a deliciously strong, tart, and sharp flavor. The noodles came out of the oven better than I expected. They weren’t burnt, nor were they too chewy. The timing for the whole “casserole” was perfect. There was no need to add more time to the clock on the oven.
The Next Day
Doing a recipe like this, I tend to want to follow up on the first day I made the mac n’ cheese. The next day, after making the mac n’ cheese, there was a ton of leftovers. I decided to make some the leftovers for dinner. The recipe said to put it back in the oven, but I didn’t have the time to put only a small serving in the oven, so I just stuck it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so (time may vary depending on how much you are reheating), and it came out just right. Finally, I could eat. The mac n’ cheese tasted almost the same as it did the first day, but the flavors had more time to incorporate into the noodles and mix all of the flavors together; so the black pepper and the nutmeg flavors had time to get stronger, but the cheese flavors became stronger and the flavor balanced out with the other flavors. This time it wasn’t as good as I expected, but if you like this kind of taste, this would be your ideal mac n’ cheese.
Overall
I made sure I made the recipe on the word and this is how it came out. This mac n’ cheese is flavorful and strong, but not to my kind of liking, nutmeg is a very powerful spice and so is the black pepper, so I would enjoy it more if there was less nutmeg and/or black pepper.
Recipe Source!
I thought it was delicious! However, I do think you were right about the spice proportions. There was way too much!
