Trader Joe’s Original Four Cheese Mac n’ Cheese

    Rating: 7.5/10 | Price: $2.99 | Serving size: 2 (2 cups per serving) | Cheesy: 9/10 | Chewy: 7/10

    The Mac

As you may already know, the mac is a very important part of mac n’ cheese. Like other microwaveable mac n’ cheeses, Trader Joe’s mac n’ cheese is made of regular elbows that are very chewy. They are not an under-cooked kind of chewy,  but rather a soft almost over-cooked chewiness. This mac is delicious, but it can easily get slightly burned if you cook your mac n cheese for the full six minutes. So, I recommend cooking for five minutes and thirty seconds.

    The Cheese(s)

Think of it, the cheesiest and the tastiest mac n’ cheese that suits your taste buds. Think of the most perfectly balanced ratio between cheese and noodles. Trader Joe’s mac n’ cheese is that perfect mac n’ cheese you are thinking of. It is the perfect combination of four kinds of cheese: Cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, and Havarti. The cheeses are so well balanced, that you don’t taste more one cheese than the other. Instead, you only taste a perfect blend of the cheeses. The cheese has a very soft and gooey texture. It is slightly on the chewy side, but those parts seem to melt in your mouth as you chew. The flavor of the cheese has very sharp and a little tangy mostly because of the Swiss and Havarti. This is definitely one of the most cheesy and creamy mac n cheese I have ever had.

    How To Make It

    Microwave:

“Remove package from box and puncture holes with a fork in plastic film. Microwave on high for 5-6 minutes, let stand for 1 minute. Remove film, stir and serve. Cooking time may vary depending on oven.”

If you have a thousand-watt microwave, I recommend cooking this mac n’ cheese for five minutes and thirty seconds.

    Conventional Oven:

“Preheat oven to 375°F degrees. Remove package from box and remove the film from the package. Place on a baking sheet and bake on the middle rack of the oven. Bake for 25-35 minutes. Let stand for 1 minute, stir and serve. Cooking time may vary depending on oven.”

Both of these instructions are quoted directly from the box.

    Worth It?

I definitely think that this mac n’ cheese is worth it. I would say that if you are short on time, then you should make Trader Joe’s Mac n’ cheese. This mac n’ cheese is cheap, easy to make, and convenient. Four cheese mac n’ cheese tends to be a very cheesy mac n cheese, but Trader Joe’s Four Cheese Mac n’ Cheese is just right. It is made perfectly so you have the tastiest mac n’ cheese because of the sharp and sweet blend of cheese and noodles.
