Mission BBQ is the most patriotic restaurant I have ever been in, if you go there at noon they will play the National Anthem in honor of our country, every day, I love it. The walls are covered in photos of battleships, post World War 2 photos, and photos of our everyday heroes like firefighters and police officers. When you walk in you are welcomed by a large rustic American styled restaurant, it gets quite busy around lunch, but they move the long line quickly so that the longest possible wait is about five minutes.
Maggie’s Mac n’ Cheese
Maggie’s Mac n’ Cheese is delicious, full of flavor and not all that expensive; you get a perfect portion size that is relatively large. For $2.09 you can pick a size from a cup to a quart, but it only comes as a side not a main dish and the pint size is $6.99 and the quart is $9.99. The mac n’ cheese is full of flavor and does not have the same bland mac n’ cheese flavor in every bite. Maggie’s Mac n’ Cheese is a homemade recipe that is super cheesy elbow mac n’ cheese, filled with spices like black pepper, and topped with a thin layer of cheese and bread crumbs, to brighten up the flavor. I couldn’t figure out what types of cheeses were in the cheesy mixture because it’s secret, but I bet there was American and cheddar cheese in it. The cheese in very gooey and the noodles are very chewy, there is a perfect amount of cheese and noodles so there isn’t the overpowering cheesy flavor or noodle flavor. Normally I don’t enjoy the burnt parts of mac n’ cheeses, but this kind of burnt is full of a delicious flavor that makes me love it. The whole mac n’ cheese is baked and has delicious golden-brown burnt parts around the edges, that is if you are lucky enough to get a serving from a fresh-out-of-the-oven batch (Usually the mac n’ cheese gets to the bottom of the pan by pretty fast).
Worth It?
Overall, I think that this is the best place to get mac n’ cheese. It is really good, so good I had to go and get a second serving. I recommend this to someone who is big on flavor, and I recommend putting Mission BBQ’s barbecue sauce on the mac n’ cheese because it adds a sweet tang to the cheese. Enjoy!
